Spelt is an ancient farro grain that predates wheat. A whole grain delicious in stews, as the main ingredient in grain salad, cooked as a breakfast porridge, made into spelt bread when turned into flour, or enjoyed as a side dish
Our Organic Spelt Berries are grown in Montana.
Gold in color with a nutty and slightly sweet flavor, spelt is high in protein and nutrients. Due to its particular gluten, spelt tends to be easier to digest.
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS
Stovetop. Bring 2 quarts of water to a boil in a pot with salt. Add rinsed spelt berries, return to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-high and boil uncovered until soft, about 30 minutes. Drain off cooking water, then serve.
